I was lucky enough to meet Nilda Callañaupa Alvarez, the founder of the </span><a href="http://www.textilescusco.org/eng/index.html" title="The Center for Traditional Textiles" target="_blank">The Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco</a><span>, who arranged for me to go to some of the surrounding villages that are carrying on the traditions of natural dyeing and weaving in the area. The center is a non-profit that works to preserve the traditions of textiles in the region and help artisans get fair prices for their work. In Chinchero i got to meet some of the master weavers and see them working with natural dyes.
